What Causes Numbness In Leg And Erectile Dysfunction Despite Having Herniated Disc?

My husband has blown discs sitting on nerves in his back. Has been this way for years. He had severe pain in his right calf muscle but now he is just numb. No pain, no feeling. Sometimes he drags his leg because he cant feel it. He cant get an erection now either. Is his due to his back problem or is this something totally unrelated?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

This could very well be due to his back problem as there are many important blood vessels passing through the back and any abnormalities in a particular place can result in dysfunctions in the various functions carried out by those parts.

I would although still recommend a check by a spine specialist to confirm this and rule out other causes.

Best wishes.
