Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Arm?
Had right shoulder replacement one year ago. Ever since right hand has tingling, numbness and get a chill sensation frequently. Asked surgeon and he commented that he may have possibly hit a nerve but he had taken precaution against that with a special glove. He didn t seem concerned about it. It has been six months since last appointment with him. One - should I return to him. Two - is this all due to a pinched nerve. Hand and chills are really bothering me
I have studied your case and i think there can be two possibilities. First it can be a nerve compressed in surgery as your doctor was thinking. You need to get a EMG/NCV test to see if there is a nerve compressed there. You need to get a cervical spinex ray to see if your are having cervical spondylysis . According to that we can plan for further management. if there is nerve pinching in the surgery than you might need to explore the surgical side again. If there is nerve compression in the spine than you need to learn physiotherapy like intermittent cervical traction exercises. Also take tablet pregabalin and methylcobal tablet. Inhope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions. thanks
