Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been on diltiazem for almost a year. It has caused three good nosebleeds in the middle of the night. Last night s was the worst. I have felt terrible since starting this drug. I feel like I m being poisoned. How can one stop taking this medication? A bit at a time or what?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have nosebleeds after taking Diltiazem. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like foreign object stuck in the nose , allergic reaction , injury , upper respiratory infection or side effects . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor will take history , order nasal endoscopy throat swab test and CT scan .Doctor may prescribe ntibiotics like amoxicillin along with decongestant . For now apply cold compresses to noe keep your head elevated while lying down and also consult doctor who prescribe diltiazem , because nosebleeding can also occur due side effects of this drug .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
