What Causes Nonspecific Interstitial Pneumonia?
Hello, My wife is 49 and was diagnosed with Nonspecific Interstitial Pneumonitis after an open lung biopcy about 14 months ago. She was on Prednisone for a few months. She wanted to ween off of it last year a little against the Pulmonologist s wishes. She did pretty well not having the pneumonitis progress any more until a few weeks ago. She has more chest pain and more shortness of breath. She has been stressted out a lot and her recent CT checkup was worse. This made the Pulmonologist call her. The doctor wants her to start on Imuran but she s not sure she wants to. She also has an appointment with a Rumatologist at his request. I d like for her to use the Imuran prescription. Is there anything on the horizon that is being studied that I can read about? Also: What affect does BAPN have on NSIP patients? Thanks

if she wants to omit prednisolone without any complications it's wise to start imuran. imuran is immunosuppressive it has many side effect but it's necessary to start. bapn for pneumonitis no authentic studies available
