What Causes Night Sweats Along With Tiredness?

I have been having sweats mostly at night. As soon as I lay down in bed the heat comes over me and I will sweat around my hair line, my chest, back and bends in my arms. So, I kick the covers off and then the chill will start. I am on several medications. Could a medication be causing this or could I have some medical issue. I am so tired of this situation. It has been going on for several years. I am 73 years old, had a hysteroctomy at the age of 40 so it should not be harmonal. Could it be anxiety, maybe a tumor somewhere? i wish I could find a reason. This happens at night when I lay down.

Dear patient,
there can be a lot of reasons for such a case of sweating when you lie down. considering your age and the fact that you take so many medicines, these symptoms could be caused by low blood sugar, low blood pressure, anxiety, insomnia, thyroid dysfunction and in case of fever also, infections like typhoid, malaria or tuberculosis. Drugs like hormones, beta blockers and antidiabetic drugs may cause such a condition. It is a good idea to get a battery of blood tests done with the advice of a general practitioner you can visit and also a review of the drugs you take will be a good idea.
