What Causes Nausea And Right Sided Abdominal Pain?

I m on my third day of abdominal pain on my right side. The pain is constant in the general area from the bottom of my rib cage down to my hip bone. I occasionally experience bursts of stabbing pain around my belly button and groin -- still on the right side. I visited my primary care physician yesterday. She ordered blood work and an ultrasound. The ultrasound didn t reveal anything abnormal beyond gallbladder polyps. The rad tech could not find my appendix. Blood work was fine -- no indicators that anything s wrong. Pain level has increased today from yesterday. I can still function, but walking and breathing having become more difficult and it hurts when I move. Nausea started two days ago, with bouts of vomiting yesterday. No vomiting today, but still nauseated. What s going on with me?

Hi. There could be many causes for your symptoms. What is important is that you are getting worse with worsening pain and vomiting. A normal ultrasound and blood test does not mean there is nothing wrong. The main thing to consider is acute appendicitis. If this is what you have, then you need an emergency operation. You should attend your nearest Emergency Department as soon as possible so the doctors there can examine you fully.
