What Causes Nasal Bleeding After Taking Antibiotics For Tooth Infection?

I had a tooth removed last thursday. It was infected. I am taking a high dose of antibiotics. I felt great yesterday and trained (I train extensively at the gym_). I woke up this morning with a bloody nose. I have never had a bloody nose. Is this normal?

Hi,

As per your complain it seems that bloody nose after tooth extraction can be most probably due to sinus perforation and sinus infection in case if it is upper jaw tooth. It can also be due to any traumatic injury inside the nostrils leading to bleeding. Any changes in blood pressure can also be a cause.

In case if the bleeding has happened once and does not recur then you need not to worry as there might be nothing serious. But in case if there are repeated episodes of the same then you need to get evaluated by an ENT expert. In case of bleeding you should bend forwards and pinch the nostril gently and hold for about ten minutes. This will help in achieving hemostasis and stopping bleeding.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
