What Causes Musty Smell In Nose When Burning Charcoal?

After being around a but ing wood fire, I get a sweet/musty smell trapped in my nose. Kind of like an old cabin/sulfur smell. This has happned a handful of times in the past and seems to always be triggered by buring firewood or charcoal. Should I be worried?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Experiencing a characteristic odor is a normal feature after burning of charcoal.
A characterstic odor expeienced by you can be due to an allergic reaction to that particular entity.
However, if you are experiencing altered odors or pungent odor without any stimulus then this is abnormal and it needs to be investigated.
In that case, you need to consult an ENT specialist for clinical assessment.

Thanks and take care
