What Causes Muscle Spasms After Taking Cyclobenzapr?

I have been taking Cyclobenzapr 10 mg tab for several months now due to mussel spasms in my neck due to a deteriorating disk. I usually only take 10 mg early in the evening each day. Recently I have been having moments of explosive anger which is unlike me. I am usually calm. I am curious as to if this medication may be causing this side effect?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome to HCM!
I appreciate your concern regarding the safety of Cyclobenzaprine.
Cyclobenzaprine is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking pain sensations that are sent to your brain.
It is usually taken once daily for only 2 or 3 weeks.

The common side effects seen with the use of Cyclobenzaprine:

Severe drowsiness, fast heart rate, tremors or shaking; agitation, overactive reflexes, hallucinations, loss of coordination, fainting.

So, you are advised to consult your doctor so as to use the alternate medicine for the muscle spasms but with minimal side effects.

Best regards!
