What Causes Muscle Cramps And Numbness In Hand After Discontinuing Statin?
I started having sever cramming in arm generating from elbow and numbness in my hand also my left leg around the knee which started to go down into calf, and my left foot would get numb, I stopped taking my statin and it has stopped by 3/4th percent. Could this be a statin thing
Ya. It could have been due to use of statin for longer time.Muscle pain and damage are most common complaints by statin users.Research and studies say that Statins may affect certain enzymes present in muscle cells that handle muscle growth. This may cause the muscle aches. Rhabdomyolysis is rarely seen which is severe form of muscle damage lead to kidney and liver damage. If you feel muscle pain persistent then there are other nonstatin drugs such as gemfibrozil or niacin to treat dyslipidaemia. You should consult your family doctor to make aware about the side effect of statin.
