my name is christina i am 21 and have been on depoprovera since i was 13 due to an unexpected pregnancy at 13. which was terminated. i was late for my shot and had unprotected sex. its been 2 and a half months still not on depo i have still not gotten my period i have taken 3 home pregnancy at different times and it comes out negative im worried as to why my period has not returned. do you think you can help me figure out as to why its still missing.
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Delayed periods can be due to pregnancy or any hormonal disturbances in the body like hypothyroidism, hyperprolactemia or polycystic ovarian disease, or due to stress. Depo provera can also lead to irregular menstrual cycle for few cycles after its discontinuation.Negative urine pregnancy test rules out any pregnancy. I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, investigated including hormonal profile and ultrasound and get appropriate treatment. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
