What Causes Milk Discharge From Breasts During Menstruation?

I stopped breastfeeding a year and a half ago. Three months ago around my period my husband was playing with my breasts and milk came out both breasts. Around my last period it happened again but more came out of my left breast. Now it s only coming out of one duct on my left breast when my nipple is squeezed. It s kinda sticky milk and my boobs are still sore from my last period. On my last period my left breast was more sore than my right. In the last 3 months I ve been working hard to lose weight and have lost over 20 pounds.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Abnormal milk from the best is called galactorrhea.

There are different possible causes: (1) induced by medication
(2)mass in the pituitary which is an area in the brain
(3)thyroid disease
(4)renal failure
(5)breast stimulation

If it continues you may want to consider seeing your doctor for an assessment which would include examination and blood tests.

I hope this helps
