What Causes Mild Swelling On The Sclera?

Hi I have mild swelling on the white of my eye bordering my pupil. Can u please tell me what it is? I ve had my eyes checked out and was told both my eyes were better than normal. My eyes r dry and feel gritty. But I have some irritation to the middle of my right pupil and pressure to the eye and right ear. Can u give me some suggestions as to what all this means?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The changes may be due to dry eyes or allergies or infection. Any of these would cause the gritty sensation and may also be associated with swelling.

If there is any discharge then infection is most likely and you may need antibiotic drops.

If there is no discharge, then it may be dry eyes or allergies. If there is also itching or rubbing of the eyes, then allergies are more likely and allergy eye drops would help to relieve your symptoms.

Dry eyes is treated with lubricant eye drops.

I hope this helps
