What Causes Mild Flu Like Symptoms With Enlarged Tonsils?

Hi, I have an enlarged left tonsil and generalised symptoms of AR. It has been going on like this for over a year. Doctors tell me not to worry and prescribed ventalin for the sleep apnoea which i now have as a result of the constriction in my throat. The wheeze is not from my lungs. Every 3 - 4 months i have more severe flu like symptoms such as sore throat and fever but it always resolves in around 4 days and I am left with this same mild flu symptoms, never fully recovering.
