What Causes Mild Chest Pain And Breathlessness After Heavy Smoking?
I ve smoked about 10-15 cigarettes a day for about 2 and a half years. For the past couple of days I ve noticed a little chest pain and it is hard to take a deep breathe. My upper left back hurts a little too. I always worry the most about things so could it just be anxiety or something more serious?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern but I am sorry to say that smoking 10 to 15 cigarettes for 2 and 1/2 years could damage your lungs in a larger proportion. It is a very bad habit which could damage your health to a large extent. Having chest pain and breathlessness is not a good sign and needs proper evaluation. You need to visit a Physician for proper management. Kindly get the following investigations done so that it gives a clear picture to manage and treat. 1. X-ray chest PA view - to visualise the lungs 2. ECG and Echocardiogram - to know about the functioning status of the heart. 3. Serum CK-MB and LDH enzyme levels - to rule out angina pectoris. Since, you are developing symptoms which says that your heart and lungs could be involved in damage process, it is strictly recommended for you to stop smoking completely in the good interest of your health. All the best.
