What Causes Lump On Tongue And Infection In Throat?
Hi, about two days ago I noticed a small pea sized lump inside my tongue near the tip, a little to the left. It hurts if I squeeze it or hit it on my teeth. I have had some infection in my throat for about a week or so and my right gland is still swollen some. I used to smoke once in a while and now smoke an electric cig daily. Any idea what this is?
Hello, You may some trauma to the tongue which is now infected. If you were dehydrated or breathing through your mouth at night, your tongue may have gotten irritated or even have a small hematoma. Try to rinse with warm salt water or an antiseptic rinse. Avoid acidic, spicy foods and irritants such as smoking to allow healing. Keep hydrated and increase vitamin B12. Have the area evaluated if it does not begin to improve quickly or worsens. An ulcerated area should heal by itself. This could be viral. Comfort rinses can be prescribed to assist healing and reduce discomfort. Did you have your throat infection treated? Make sure that you complete all medication as prescribed to eliminate an active infection. A virus may just take more time to heal. Are you up to date with your dental exam? Consuder a visit to evaluate for a more serious condition, broken or infected teeth. Thank you for your inquiry. I hope you begin to feel better soon.
