Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am a 19 year old male. I woke up this morning with a lump inside of my tongue about the size of a dime. When I push on the lump my pain rating is at an 8 on a 1-10 scale, 10 being the worst. The underside of my tongue where a vein is under the lump appears to be larger than normal. Any idea?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain a lump inside the tongue can be due to allergic reaction to any food or medication, it can also be beginning of an apthous ulcer, can be a soft tissue overgrowth etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take supportive treatment like apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine to relieve pain.. You can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Suck on ice pops and rinse with cold water.. Take multivitamin supplements.. Avoid spicy and hard foods.. Maintain a good oral hygiene to prevent infections..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
