What Causes Lump Behind Ear With History Of Infected Piercing On Ear?

Hi, A few days ago I noticed a lump behind my right ear. It doesn t really hurt unless I apply pressure onto it, and even then it s just a little bit tender. It appeared a few weeks before but I think it disappeared (or maybe I just forgot about it) and reappeared a few days ago when I noticed it again. I am absolutely terrified that it could be cancer. I am 20 years old. I have had an infected piercing recently on my right ear, could it have to do with that? Please help.

Hello dear patient. Thank you for asking us on HCM!

I'm sure that lump is due to the ear infection you had. That is called "reactive lymph node", it's just your immune system reacting to the infection. If you have treated that infected ear correctly the lymph node will disappear gradually. If it doesn't than you may see a surgeon for a better thought.

Kind regards!
Dr Eriol.
