What Causes Lower Right Abdominal Pain?

what could be causing pain in my right side - lower abdomen, between waist line and pelvis. It was not present when I sent to bed, last night. But it was present and noticeable as soon as I woke up this morning. I have no other noticeable symptoms. The pain is stronger when I stand up and walk.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Right sided lower abdominal pain might be related to a number of underlying condition like appendicitis colitis or gut infection, Ileaocaecal tuberculosis kidney infection or kidney stones and pelvic inflammatory disease (in female). Looking at your description I would advise you for a battery of investigation like blood for CBC, liver function test, urine culture and an ultrasound pelvis and abdomen. In my opinion you may require a course of antibiotics like ofloxacin and ornidazole group of drugs under medical supervision.

Meanwhile have lots of fluids and healthy dietary habits by avoiding fatty fried and junk food. Avoid constipation by taking laxatives like liquid paraffin or lactulose or ishabgol husk.

Hope I could answer your question, please feel free to ask for follow up question, I will be happy to help you. Wishing you good health.

Regards,
Dr. B R Hudda
