What Causes Low Hearing After Injury To Eardrum?

Hi There, I was cleaning my ear with a cotton bud and accidently knocked my elbow which pushed the cotton bud hard up against my ear drum. I felt a sharp pain then, I have no pain now but it have affected my hearing a bit. Did I do any damage, should I go see my gp?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain reduced hearing due to deeper 8nsertion of q-tip might have left to perforation in the ear drum and it is leading to reduced hearing..
You should consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he/she can do an otoscopic examination to rule out the cause of reduces hearing..
In case of perforated ear drum mild perforation gradually heal on its own ,also the Physician can advise you to take antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicines, decongestant sprays and antibiotic ear drops for faster recovery....

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
