My 10 day old infant son had issues keeping his temp up when I had him because he was burning calories to stay warm well now he s home an is gaining his weight like he should but I noticed today that he felt a little to warm the temperature of his forehead was 98.6 well his belly and chest were reading between 100.5 an 101.5 that didn t settle right so I undid his swaddle which I use a receiving blanket so he s not to hot ironically well I got him unwrapped and laying in just a long sleeve sleeper and my house is set to 73 well it s hours later and his temp has not changed can you please give this momma some peace of mind...is this ok or normal or do I need to take him to be seen this has me overly concerned...
Hello there I have read through your question and I can understand your concern. The correct way to assess the temperature in an infant is to take the rectal temperature. If it is higher than 101 it can be a cause for concern and you should see your paediatrician. But if it is lower than that and the child is not in distress with no associated symptoms like nausea, vomiting or incessant crying and if he is feeding well there is nothing to worry about. I hope I was able to answer your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write. Thank you for choosing healthcare magic
