What Causes Low Amniotic Fluid?

my cousin 28 wk pregnant now diagnosed as having low amniotic fluid and doctor advised for folic acid administration&admission in hospital for 4 days.during her carrying period she suffered from chicken pox in 7th wk,diabetes,grade1 placenta praevia &cord was around the neck of baby in 21st wk usg..pls give any advice

low amniotic fluid can be due to many reasons if there is decreased blood supply to the baby,mother having hypertension ,diabetes, auto immune disorders, some drugs can also cause decreased amniotic fluid,fetal anomalies like if there is a problem with fetal kidneys,history of chicken pox definetly fetal varicella syndrome should be rules out though chances are very small .
placenta praevia grade 1, scan should be repeated at 32 weeks to see location of placenta ,avoid sternous activities
if she has bleeding of abdominal; pain,decreased fetal movements she needs immediate medical attention
