Hello, If you are worried about this being side effect of surgery and want a quick answer - then its no. Its not due to surgery. As per your question you have low Hb, platelet count and high MCV. And common causes for this picture would be a B12 deficiency due to Veg diet or long term alcohol intake. Though i would like to tell you that there can be other causes like worm infestation, thyroid disorder, bone marrow problem or effect of chemotherapy drugs. What I do in such cases is to take a history of drugs, diet and alcohol. And also go through prior blood reports to see whether its just isolated report. And also to do a peripheral smear to look for morphology of cells. If my suspicion is high I will also do a B12 levels. I hope this answers your question.
