What Causes Low BP And Positional Vertigo?

I am a regular blood donor (every 8 weeks). After a donation this morning I felt fine immediately after the donation but within approx. 15 minutes I experienced severe dizziness and light-headedness along with sweating and a clammy feeling. I failed to eat before the donation, and worked-out at a gym before donating and likely was dehydrated. Before the Blood Bank would allow me to drive home I had a small amount of orange juice and about an ounce of raisins. I recovered enough to drive home however 6 hours later my BP is 90/50. I m medicated for hypertension (heredity--I work out regularly, am 5 4 tall weighing 124 lbs and am a vegetarian) and my normal medicated BP is around 110/60. I can t seem to get the blood pressure back up closer to normal and am still experiencing positional vertigo (when I stand from a sitting or bending over position). Should I be concerned?

Hello,
I have gone through your query

Your habit of donating blood regularly is quite appreciative.

As you expected symptoms are purely because of Hypo tension.
Your not having food ,and gym before blood donation are causes.

You can continue taking plenty of fluids like butter milk with salt, fruit juices and coconut water until you feel better.
Also you can withhold medications for hypertension until your blood pressure raises to normal level.

Get your blood pressure and Hemoglobin levels checked before you go for next transfusion.
Keep yourself well hydrated and take iron rich foods regularly.

Hope my advise was of help to you.
Would be happy to answer any further concerns
