What Causes Lot Of Gas And Hard/sore Stomach After Having Hernia Surgery?

HELLO, MY MOTHER HAD A BIG HERNIA IT WAS IN THE BELLY BUTTON..... IT WAS SO LARGE THE BOWEL WAS OBSTRUCTED INSIDE IT AND SHE HAD TO HAVE EMERGENCY SURGERY. SHE HAD IT IN MARCH THE SURGERY. SHE WENT FOR AN ULTRASOUND LAST WEEK AND THE FLUID IS STAYING OUT BUT SHE HAS A LOT OF GAS AND HER STOMACH IS HARD AND SORE. THAT IS PART OF THE SURGERY RECOVERY CORRECT. IT IS NORMAL AND SHE HAS BEEN EATTING ALOT OF VEGGIES AND FRUITS ALOT OF GAS AND IN THE ULTRA SOUND IT SHOWED SHE HAD ALOT OF BOWEL GASES IN HER STOMACH.

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of your Mother suffering from belly button hernia large enough and hence caused obstruction needing emergency surgery in March.
She now has gases, stomach feeling hard and sore, taking lots of veggies and fruits. Ultrasound done.
This probably may or may not be related to the hernia surgery.
I would advise you the following:
Get a clinical evaluation done, examination and X-ray of the abdomen in standing position.
If there are signs of obstruction, you may need re-exploration after conservative treatment of 3 days or earlier if that is an emergency.
If there are no signs of obstruction, you will need a conservative medical treatment of intestinal infection or so as is found on tests of stool, blood and urine.
