What Causes Loss Of Weight And Blood In Stools?

While being screened for other possibilities which included blood work, doctors found a big decrease in red blood and asked questions: have you had blood in your stool, are you losing weight, etc. I was shocked!! I had a colonoscopy and also a tube to check for stomach problems. Not sure of the name. I have not heard back from doctors. How dangerous is this vascular tag? I am 75 and know I am having trouble remembering things at times. I thought it was early stage dementia. I cannot find the words I want to say sometime. Can you help me understand what can possible be wrong. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol but I have been on meds to control this and things have been working well. I also had rheumatic fever as a teen but it has never recurred. Thank you I do not have a credit card. I will contact you again once I get one.

Hi..

Thanks for contacting HCM for health query.

You are a 75 years elderly person with BP and high cholestrol and you have little forgetfulness also..

You are worried about your doctor asking about passage of blood in stools, and that is a usual question any treating physician will ask a male patient.

You have underwent colonoscopy,endoscopy etc

Do not be panic .

There are so many other causes of anaemia including iron deficiency, severe pin worm infecction, dietary deficiency of folic acid etc.,so wait till the complete work up is over.

Till then help yourself with iron rich food stuff like greens ,dates and pomegranates.

Rheumatic fever and BP and cholestrol have no connection with the present prooblem and so also the tablets given for those.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

They have done colonoscopy and resultsare awaited.
