What Causes Loss Of Memory Along With Shortness Of Breath?

Yesterday, while pulling together a grocery list, I suddenly struggled to remember and then write the word spoon (we needed plastic spoons). I knew I was not thinking of the word, but I could not think of it. Today I look at the list and see that I wrote, bloud (sic)- drawer- dish-drawer- cup . In addition, my wife had texted me that she wanted some Neosporin. I copied the word letter by letter but could not recall what it meant. Today...no problem remembering any of it. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Today, I do feel a bit clamy, but no fever and am short of breath.

Hello,

I can understand that having an experience like the one you had can be very scary. However, sometimes being in too much stress can make you feel the way you did. Shortness of breath can also be related to anxiety. Have you been going through a particularly stressful phase in your life right now?

If yes, you need to take a break and give yourself some change. Your body is giving you a message this way that you need time to relax. You should spend some time for your hobbies or join yoga/meditation classes to learn the exercises that can relieve your anxiety. If none of this seem to work, you can contact a mental health professional or psychiatrist for counselling sessions and prescription medicines for some time. In addition, psychiatrist will also be able to differentiate if your symptoms are not related to anxiety and you need attention for your physical health.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HCM. Let me know if I can answer any follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
