welcome to hcm,
In his age the loss of bladder control is mainly due to benign prostatic hyperplasia or (BPH). loosing bowel control may be due to many conditions involving damage to the nerves going to the large intestine. hope doctors are looking for that reason in his MRI or CT.
There may be other associated conditions causing loss of bowel and bladder control. He needs a complete work up with the good history and investigations to know the cause.
hope this explains
with regards
Dr.Amarnath
