What Causes Loose Motions After Taking Udiliv?

Hi! I am a 52 year old female. I have been getting some pain in the right side of my abdomen, just below the ribs. On getting a blood test done to check the liver functions, we found that my SGPT - 57 SGOT - 50 Alkaline Phosphatase - 124. I had also been feeling some nausea. My Dr. prescribed Udiliv 300 - thrice a day. The Ultrasound and chest x-ray that he asked for, came back clear. I took the the tablet in the afternoon ie about 4 hrs back. And just now I had very bad loose, watery motions. I also feel bloated and uncomfortable. Are these the side-effects of this medication? And, no, I do not take any other medication. I have eaten home cooked fresh food - something I have everyday.

Hello
SGOT , SGPT , normal value is 5-45 IU and further this value is within normal range and not so specific for liver function test .
While serum alkaline phosphatase is also 42-136 U/L , in you case it is 124 i.e. normal .
As all these enzymes are primarily found in the liver and useful for liver function test .
While in your case these are normal.
While you are taking UDILIV 300 MG ( URSODEOXYCHOLIC ACID ).
Developed diarrhea , this is most common side effect of udilive ,others are nausea, vomiting , and gall stone calcification.
Normal dose is 300 mg ,once in day but dosage depend on the severity of symptoms and type of disease .
So either reduce the dose or take some lactobacillus or prebiotics .
Plenty of fluid will also help , drug will adjust within nest 2-3 days .
Bulky food like rice , curd , banana will also help.
Still no relief consult your treating doctor and get his opinion.

HI
Well come to HCM
Abdominal pain can have many reasons because of the organs that have in visceral cavity, some time clinical history and examination it self clear the diagnosis, some time even after many investigations nothing comes out, your reports of enzyme test are not significant, taking udiliv 300 wont work here, if the pain is not sever then no need to take any medicine instead you can wait for some time, else pain can be managed with Tab Dicylomine with Acetaminophen as per needed, hope this information helps, take care.
