What Causes Lightheaded Feeling?

Within the last two weeks, I have been feeling lightheaded up[on sitting then standing from a lying position. I do take 10mg. of Benicar for blood pressure that spikes when I get upset (which seems to occur often). I also just within the last three weeks got new contact lenses and am concerned that they might be the culprit. I don t know, and have only fainted 2 times in my life and have never had this feeling before. I am a healthy, 69 yr. old.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Dear friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Relation to Benicar or lens – does not appear likely
See an ENT specialist / get examined; investigated…Balancing mechanism is in the inner ear.
Postural hypo-tension / anaemia are common
If not, see a neurologist – MRI and/or MRA may be needed
If still elusive, see Cardiologist! - for arrhythmia, clot, ischemia etc..

Take care
Good luck
