What Causes Light Vaginal Bleeding With History Of Having Hysterectomy?

I had a hysterectomy in 1982. Last Sunday I started some light bleeding (bright red). The bleeding has continued, but now just pinkish and only when I wipe after urinating. (This happened once before about 3 years ago. Went to my family doctor and was checked. The only conclusion was I could have had a tear somewhere. Is this something that needs to be checked out again?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the bleeding is related to the urinary tract (bladder, urethra, ureter and kidneys) and not the genital tract.

The most common causes for bleeding from the urinary tract would be infection, stones, trauma, bleeding disorder, kidney disease, side effect of medication, mass in the urinary tract
Out of these causes, infection is most common.

It would be best to see your doctor for an assessment which would include physical examination, urine analysis.

If infection is confirmed then antibiotics would be given.

If another cause is suspected then further tests such as imaging, may be needed.

I hope this helps
