What Causes Light Period?

Hi, I normally the first 3-4 days out of 7 days have a heavy periods flow with mild to painful cramping my cycle is usually like clockwork 30 days. This has been consistent for the last 6 months. This month it changed drastically, to very light period, very bloated. I had sex 1 time, but it was 2 days before my period was supposed to start. I am over weight, and in my early 30s.

Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. You mentioned that you had regular monthly menstrual cycles for the past six months, but, you did not say anything about the nature of your earlier cycles. However, a single cycle abnormality is usually considered to be transient. An intercourse just before a period is due does not cause pregnancy as ovulation occurs two weeks prior to the onset of the next cycle. The fact that you are overweight suggests that this may be the cause of the hormone imbalance that has presented as a light period. Please see a specialist if you see another similar period in the next cycle also. Hope this helps.
