Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having leg pain and leg cramps at night. Both legs, sometimes severe. Pain is in the calf and thigh in both legs. I do not have any injuries and I do not exercise very much. I am 74 years old and in good health except for high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I take Welchol for high cholesterol. I take a baby aspirin every day and a drug for high blood pressure.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Niraj Modi's Response
As per your explanation I suggest leg cramp can be due to 2 resion due to vitamin b complex deficiency or lower limb blood circulation is not good due to age as well as high cholesterol factor. I suggest to do a self test by holding your calf muscle try to squeeze and if it hurts in side the muscles that means circulation problem. In that case you have to do a dopler and based on report visit a vascular surgeon and plan for treatment program. Now if it does not hurt on calf with test then do self assessment. Do you get tired fast, do you get numbness feeling frequently if you are in one position for your hand as well as leg. If yes then it could be vitamin b deficiency but this also you need to verify with blood test and then plan for treatment. Also check on your blood pressure and cholesterol. It should be in control. Hope this was useful for you. Take care.
