What Causes Late Periods, Heat Flashes And Mood Swings?

Recently, I ve been choking on almost everything: food, water, and even my own saliva. I had hyperthyroidism and I had improved drastically but my symptoms are coming back. Late periods, sudden heat flashes and mood swings. But I noticed my urine is cloudy, sometimes a little on the dark side. I am a 21yr female and I am occasionally sexually active (last time was two to three months ago and we used protection.) Is it a hormonal thing or is it something else?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. The symptoms you are experiencing indicate that actually you might have hyperthyroidism again.

Dark cloudy urine indicates presence of phosphates in urine which may be due to increased hormonal level only.

The best advise I can give you is to visit the endocrinologist/physician again and get blood tests for thyroid hormone levels. You might have to start medications again or increase dose if you are already on it. Hot flushes, mood swings, delayed periods, dark urine will disappear on regulation of hormone level.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you good health!

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
