What Causes Large Spongy Bump On The Head?

My 11 month old has had a few falls lately ranging from falling of his brothers bed to kicking himself backwards from the table while strapped to his booster seat he was grumpy on fri so I sat with him and stroked his head and noticed that his head has a large spongy bump on it what would that be caused by ? Is it serious and should I take him into a dr? He seems ok and hasn t been acting differently minus two days of being grouchy which I thought that he was teething but there was no loss of conscious at the time and he seems normal

Hi, welcome to HCM.
Bulgy swelling over head in your child seems to be due to falling with trauma on head.
In a case of head trauma, if there is loss of consciousness, nose or mouth bleed, seizures then the injury is serious and need immediate neurological assessment.
In your case, these things are not present but a boggy swelling is present, in my opinion, there doesn't appear to be damage to brain. However, you should do a CT scan of head to rule out fracture and hematoma inside brain. A neurological opinion should also be done.
I hope this has helped you. Take care.
