What Causes Lack Of Appetite With History Of Quadruple Heart Bypass?

Hi,

My Dad had a quadrupal heart bypass about 10 years ago and has been in good health since apart from some age related memory loss. He has recently in the past few days complained of not being hungry and feeling a bit unwell. When questioned, he says he doesn't feel sick, isn't constipated or have diarrhea, doesn't have heartburn (ie refux) and generally he can't explain why he isn't hungry and doesn't feel great.

I am wondering if i should be concerned about whether this could be heart related or whether he may just have some sort of tummy upset that isn't materialising into obvious symptoms? He has complained in the last couple of weeks of feeling a bit hot and has looked a bit flushed but this ahs been intermittent. Could you advise me of what I should do for him please?

Many Thanks

Trish

Hello
10 years back heart bypass surgery performed , other wise your father is good health except feeling of hotness in body and anorexia or loss of appetite. He is an old man according to you. When such type of patient visit my clinic without any apparent reason of disease I usually advise them to take some anti anxiety drugs like propranolol+ clonazepam , one tablet in the night . This tablet will alleviate anxiety as well as tension ( main cause of anorexia in old age group patient ) .
I also advise them to take cyproheptadine + sorbitol+ tricholine in syrup 2 T SF -3 TSF ( before meal 1-2 hours ) twice in day. I also advise my patient to take "buclizine hydrochloride " tablet 2 - 2 on empty stomach . Within 5-7 days patient's appetite will boost .
This is a prescription medicine so consult a physician and get his help.
Good luck.
