What Causes Knuckle Pain After Having A Cut In Finger?

Hi there, I cut my finger a week ago. Really deeply on a rusty fence walking my dog. The cut was just below my knuckle no cut actually on my knuckle. Now the cut is healing but my knuckle hurts really badly. Anytime I hit it by accident or even putting my hand into my pocket.

Seems like you cut your finger on a dirty fence.
If I was your treating physician, I'll like to know:
- did you take any antibiotics after the injury?
- any draining or redness?
- any fevers?
- have you had tetanus vaccine ? (I'll recommend getting one if you have never had one or have had one over 10yrs ago).
- limited movement of that joint?

My concern is that since you cut your finger on a dirty fence, you might now have an infection of your finger joint (which is where your knuckle is) from bacteria resulting from the cut.
I'll recommend going to the doctor to have it examine and possible antibiotics, possible drainage if it doesn't improve.

Hope it helps.
