What Causes Itchy Skin Rashes Post Transvaginal Mesh Surgery?

I had Transvaginal mesh surgery in 2010. I have been having some minor problems since then. But since Aug.2015 I have had a rash and itching so sever that I bruise myself scratching. I have been to my GP and Dermatologist. Nether could find the cause of the rash. I have had blood work and also biopsy of rash still no explanation. Could it be from the mesh implant?

Hi,
I understand your query.
The vaginal rash you have can be allergic( ointments/ cosmatics/ drugs/ ? mesh ), infective , due to dryness of vaginal skin or some thyroid or diabetic problem.
Blood work like DLC( for eosinophillia in allergic rash), Thyroid function test, blood sugar testing & deep vaginal swab testing would help in diagnosis.
Allergy to mesh is not common, still it can be detected by blood test & treated with medicines/ removed if needful under expert guidance.
You should start the investigations after a physical check up followed by investigations & specific treatment thereafter.
Thanks.
