General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

Itchy red spots on the buttocks is suggesting allergy reaction; while scratching might have caused a secondary bacterial infection.

Most common causes for itchy buttocks include pinworms. I advise to send a sample of his stool to lab and run stool examination under microscope to rule out pinworms or other intestinal parasites.

For the moment, I advise to:
- keep good local hygiene
- apply gentian violet solution on the red spots
- give antihistaminic for itching (e.g. cetirizin or loratadine).

Wish fast recovery.
