What Causes Itchy Red Rashes On The Chest After Eating Seafood?
My son and I went to red lobster on sat night. On Sunday he woke up,with red marks on his chest and stomach. They were itchy.. I assumed he had some kind of and allergic reaction to something he tenthe night before. We got benedryl and he went to sleep and woke up feeling better. It s now Monday and the spots are still there...? Along with the itch
Hi, I understand your concern. Yes, unfortunately your child has had an allergic reaction to the Lobster. Since now its already Monday, you don't need to worry much. The worst time of it is over. Best is to apply some calamine lotion on it. This will have a soothing effect. If you don't have calamine, you can use simple moisturizer. Please avoid lobster, prawns, shell fish and crabs in the future. Allergy to these is fairly common. But That doesn't mean allergy to all sea food. For other sea food, you can test with a very small amount. Slowly you will know what things is your son actually allergic to. Keep Levocetrizine or other locally available anti histaminic at your disposal for accidental exposure to allergens in the future.
