What Causes Itchy Rashes On The Body While On Augmentin?

I've been on 1750 mg of Augmenting for 19 days due to a bacteria found in my blood stream and had emergency surgery! Between last night and tonight I have several areas with a raised itchy rash & bruising discoloration on my arms. No fever, no appetite, sweating abnormally! Just weak overall! Help

As per your complain Augmentin is an antibiotic combination containing Amoxicillin [Penicillin group of antibiotic] +Clavulanate Potassium..

It seems that raised rashes and bruising discolouration of arms can be due to a delayed allergic reaction to the antibiotic and at times the reaction progresses gradually as the antibodies formed against the antibiotic is gradually increases in concentration in blood and as the concentration becomes sufficient to fight with the allergen, there is appearrence of allergy symptoms..

You should immediately consult your treating Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation will be done..
In case if allergic reaction is ruled out you will be advised anti allergic medications to relieve the symptoms and different group of antibiotics will be advised for resolution of infection that will not cause allergy..

Also applying Calamine lotion and doing cool compresses over the rashes will help in reducing inflammation and soothing the skin..
