What Causes Itchy Rashes On Body While On Antibiotics For Strep Throat?

My daughter who is 21 has been taking diclofenac and Cephalexin for strep throat for 12 days of a 14 day regimen and has a rash all over her body today. She said it itches but she is not having trouble breathing or headaches. Can she just quit using the medication and see if it goes away.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Yes she can stop the medication, but she needs to inform her doctor's office. it sounds like a drug reaction and she may be allergic to the Cephalexin or the diclofenac. The prescriber of this medication needs to know that she had this reaction so that they can put it into her medical chart. If she experiences any shortness of breath she needs to go immediately to emergency.
Regards
