What Causes Itchy Rash On Upper Thigh?

I have a palm size rash on my upper thigh, not raised & may itch during the night. I really on notice it when I sit to use restroom. The only thing I can remember is this new perfume I ordered & I sprayed on my wrist & thighs. But only one thigh has the rash. Can t think of anything else & it has been present for over 10 days. I just dabbed some alcohol on it one night, that s it. Let me know what you think.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I suggest a possibility of Tinea cruris/ Fungal infection.
I doubt it is related to the perfume.
Tinea cruris/ fungal infection is quite common in body folds like upper inner thighs, axilla, sub-mammary folds etc
These body folds provide an ideal environment for the fungus to proliferate and form red, scaly, itchy patches.
The patches may gradually expand to cover large areas.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest a KOH wet preparation for a confirmatory diagnosis.
Treatment of a confirmed fungal infection would include one of the topical antifungals e.g sertaconazole, luliconazole, bifonazole etc.
Oral treatment with fluconazole would result in faster results and is recommended.
Oral you may take an OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily for symptomatic relief from itching.

Regards
