What Causes Itchy Eyes, sneezing And Rashes On Arms And Legs?

I have a17 year old daughter, 5' 4" 125 lbs about who has just develoed what appears to be seasonal allergies, itchy eyes, sneezing etc. It's been raining for two days, should'nt that relieve the symptoms? What concerns me more is she seema to always be very warm and has been having rashes on her arms and legs which the pediatrition said was due to the cold. She is not heavy but she has a hard time tasking anything off and doesn't seem to eat much. Her sister has a auto immume condition. could all this be related?

Hello,

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make following suggestions for your daughter:

1. Were I treating her, I would suggest her montelukast and an antihistamine like fexofenadine or levocetirizine or cetirizine for 3-5 days. It will improve all itchy eyes, sneezing and rashes.

2. It is possible to feel warm when some one has an allergic reaction, due to release of histamine. However, I would suggest you to measure her temperature with a thermometer. If she has fever, I would suggest her paracetamol and tapid sponging.

3. If she has repeated such seasonal problems, I would suggest her allergy testing for common air-borne allergens, especially pollens in your region.

4. From your current history, I would not think of any autoimmune condition at present.

5. As she is not eating much and she has a hard time tasking, I would suggest you to check her hemoglobin levels and thyroid function. If they are abnormal, they can be treated.

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish your daughter the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
