What Causes Itchy Area On Right Thigh?

I have a itchey area about the size of two pence coin on my right thigh . I thought I had been bitten by an insect on inspection with a magnifying glass nothing is visible. No rash, redness, dryness or swelling of the skin. I have been aware of problem for four weeks. Previous history I have had excision of small black mole ( with halo) removed from inner aspect of right thigh fifteen years ago which was malignant, no adverse effects since. Thank you for your assistance. Valerie Warriner. Age 77.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM
Brief answer: If you send a picture then it will be more helpful.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely due to fungal infection, Tinea corporis. A visual examination by a dermatologist or GP will be helpful to confirm this. If you were my patient with such condition then i would recommend using ointments with combination of anti fungal like miconazole and corticosteroid like flucinolone for local application. I also advise fluconazole tab orally weekly once for 1 month to stop recurrence.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
