What Causes Itching Red Spot On Knee?

I have a red spot on my left knee that at first looked like a mosquito bite but came to a head yesterday and then started oozing yellow pus. Now I have another sore starting on my right calf. Both are itchy. I ve been fighting a bad cold for 10 days and am concerned that these may not be bites. Thoughts?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that they are bites that have become infected. Bites can become infected when bacteria is introduced from under the nails during itching.

It is not likely that they are linked to the cold that you are currently fighting.

The use of topical antibiotics may help but if they do not resolve with topical treatment then oral antibiotics would be needed.

You should also consider repellent to prevent further bites.

I hope this helps
