What Causes Itching Around A Hysterectomy Scar?

I know this might sound silly, but to the top left of my hysterectomy scar I have a deep itchy feeling like you would get from a bug bite...no bite or bump...this is the silly part...I still have no topical sensations on the skin, it s numb...where and why would it itch so badly? The hysterectomy was in late 2012...total radical due to multiple tumors on the ovaries and uterus. Going on a little over a week now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Loss of sensation on a scar could be explained by nerve damage on skin due to the surgery. Itching of scar some years after may be explained by a local scar infection probably by a fungus.I will suggest you apply betamethadone cream and see the Doctor for examination. If caused by tropical fungi, an anti mycotic may be prescribed.
Hope this will help
Best regards
