Hello. On Friday night I woke up with my arms feeling itchy. I finally went back to sleeo but when I woke up, I still had the itch and my arms and hands were red with a rash. It got worse through the day and has a bit of a burning sensation. In the evening I went to the pharmacy and pharmacist suggested Benedryl. I have takeb two but I feel like it has gotten worse. My legs are a little itchy as well and so are my ears. It s also hurting a lot. I thought yhe Benedryl would have alleviated the symptoms but it hasn t. It s 4am and Im still up with discomfort - my hands and arms are extremely itcy and red, there is a tightness in my hands and im also feeling a little burn. Should I go to the hospital emergency room?
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. I think that your symptoms are related to an allergic reaction. Allergic reactions can vary from person to person and depend on the type of allergy. I suggest you to go to the emergency room to do an injection of dexamethasone and then continue the treatment with Benadryl for at least 5 days. Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
