What Causes Itchiness In The Vagina After Protected Intercourse?
Hi doc. Some two months back i had sex using a condom and reacted badly to the latex. Since then i ve had no joy. My vagina is constantly itchy inside out, ph levels have been altered. The irritation is just uncomfortable. What could this be? Please help
Hello, Thank you for the query at healthcare magic
Vaginal itching can be possibly due to allergic reaction or Bacterial vaginosis. Allergy to latex is unlikely in your case right now, since it has been few months since you have been exposed to latex. Bacterial vaginosis need to be ruled out. It occurs due to altered vaginal pH resulting in alteration of normal vaginal flora.Bacterial Vaginosis require treatment with antibiotics. Sexually transmitted infections and fungal infections like candidiasis also need to be ruled out. Pelvic examination and further investigations like KOH mount ,culture of vaginal secretions are warranted.
I recommend that you consult a Gynecologist to undergo further evaluation and management.
Hope I was able to help you Please feel free to address any more concerns Regards, Dr.Lekshmi
