What Causes Itchiness During Pregnancy?

Hello, I am 9.5wks pregnant, and have developed itching all over the body for the past week- no rash, except I do have wheal formation after scratching ( dermographism?). I have not taken an antihistamines (except occasional Ranitidine for severe heartburn). I am currently on synthroid 100mcg, Enoxaparin 40mg SQ, Prog suppositories, folic acid 4mg and Prenatal vit. I am avoiding benadryl or other meds..because I feel like I am on too many meds to already...and I know how meds can be detrimental in the first trimester.
Kindly advice.
Thanks.

Hi Anna
Itching during pregnancy can be due to obstetric cholestatasis. It means you may have elevated liver enzymes. There is medication available for that. But first a blood test should be done to confirm.
